Become a Group Fitness Instructor
Become a certified fitness instructor by obtaining a group fitness certification. RecWell hosts certifications on campus and offers online certifications where applicable. All NCAA-accredited certifications are accepted.
Steps for becoming a fitness instructor
- Obtain a fitness certification for the relevant class type.
- Scholarships will open in Fall of 2026.
- Submit an application
- Selected applicants will be invited to schedule an audition with the fitness team
- Participate in new instructor training
- This training period will last for one semester and includes mandatory bi-weekly educational workshops and team-teaching with a mentor instructor
- Inspire our Active Terp community by leading classes independently

Yes, we offer scholarships for the full and partial cost of certifications. Scholarships are offered once annually in the Fall semester. The current application can be found here and closes on September 20th.
