Aquatics

Aquatics is for everyone!

Come explore the many benefits of being in the water with RecWell. Our aquatics facilities include the ERC Natatorium and the Outdoor Aquatic Center (OAC). Inside the Natatorium, you can enjoy the warmer water of the instructional pool, dry sauna, steam room, and our Olympic-size competition pool.

Enjoy open lap swimming, club sports (swimming, water polo, triathlon) or get involved with the facility’s group activities, such as our youth recreational swim program, masters swimming, swim lessons, or fitness classes.

RecWell offers a variety of aquatic programs and activities ranging from competitive swim teams and certifications to informal activities such as open swim and log rolling. Review the table below to determine your eligibility for participation in each. For more information on these and other activities visit the Youth & Community Programs or Instructional Classes & Certifications page.

We have American Red Cross (ARC) water & land safety training for students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.

Both traditional classroom & blended learning (BL) courses at RecWell are inclusive of ARC course fees, materials fees, and required text materials.

Certificates are issued by the American Red Cross and sent via email after successful completion of all written and skills tests. For more information about our class, pleaser visit, Instructional Classes & Certifications.

Swimming is a life skill that can be learned or refined at any age & at RecWell, we want you to be able to enjoy the water safely.

Looking for youth recreational swimming? This is the program for you!

RecWell Swimming Terps helps you work on stroke development, endurance, and having fun in the water. Swimmers will improve their strokes, gain communication and interpersonal skills, as well as enjoy being part of a group.

Groups meet throughout the semester for instruction and practice. There are no swim meets associated with this program, but it can be a great intermediate step before committing to a traditional swim team.

All swimmers interested in joining Swimming Terps must:

  1. Be able to swim one 25 yards freestyle without stopping
  2. Be able to swim one 25 yards backstroke without stopping
  3. Kick one 25 yards freestyle with a kickboard
  4. Have an understanding of butterfly and breaststroke.

Registration opens on December 11 for the spring semester.
