Access for Everyone

RecWell is committed to providing facilities, programs, services and employment opportunities that are inclusive to the entire UMD community.  Programs are designed to allow participation by all. Except for the Reckord Armory (no elevator), all RecWell facilities meet the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance requirements and standards.  Guide/aid animals are permitted.

These facilities feature:

  • Handicap parking
  • Accessible entrances
  • Elevators
  • Room signs with braille
  • ADA-compliant restrooms and showers
  • Accessible cardio, weight, and functional training equipment

Facility Access for Everyone

Features include:

  • family changing rooms for people with caretakers,

  • wheelchair accessible spots at outdoor tables.

People of all abilities may participate in climbing and non-climbing challenges on the universally accessible alpine tower.

  • The Natatorium Pool (Indoor Instructional Pool) is equipped with water wheelchairs and a ramp.  
  • The Outdoor Aquatic Center (Outdoor Pool) features a lift.

All outdoor recreation spaces are accessible via sidewalks and gradual slopes.

Does not have an elevator.  To access the gym or Intramural Sports office through the facility’s rear doors (facing Main Administration), call 301-226-4444.

The lower level of the building is accessible via a ramp located at the southeast corner of the building (facing Public Policy building). Restrooms are located on the lower level.

The driving range and practice tees are accessible.  The club house meets ADA standards, providing ramps, an elevator, and ADA-compliant rest rooms.
