Bouldering Zone
Located on Level 0 of the Eppley Recreation Center, the Bouldering Zone is RecWell's indoor bouldering facility with a range of bouldering routes to accommodate seasoned climbers and those new to the sport. The space also features a Kilter Board and Campus Board. Note: Reservations are required for use of the space

All participants are expected to adhere to Bouldering Zone and RecWell policies in order to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all Active Terps. Please review the related policies at the links below:
Bouldering Zone FAQ
Create your Bouldering Zone reservation in advance at activeterp.umd.edu. Reservations open 24 hours before the reservation start time. Before registering for your first class, you must add the complimentary Bouldering Zone Membership to your account. Here are the steps:
- Go to activeterp.umd.edu and log in using your UMD single sign-on information.
- Click memberships and add the Bouldering Zone to your cart.
- Sign the Bouldering Zone waiver.
- Go to your cart and checkout ($0). There is no fee for this membership.
If you are no longer able to attend your reservation, please follow the instructions below to remove your registration. Please be aware that your cancellation must occur one hour before the reservation begins.
Please note: repeated no-shows will result in lose of access to the space
To cancel your reservation:
- Select your profile in the upper right-hand corner of the activeterp.umd.edu website.
- Select "Program Registrations"
- Identify the reservation slots that you wish to cancel under "Program Registrations"
- Select the three dots on the right-hand side of the reservation slot to open details and cancel.
- Close-toed shoes are required for climbing at the Bouldering Zone. You can rent climbing shoes from the Bouldering Zone at no charge. You are also welcome to use your own climbing shoes.
- Loose chalk is not permitted. Communal liquid chalk will be available at the Bouldering Zone. You may bring your own or purchase liquid chalk from the Adventure Program Rental Desk.
- No personal belongings will be permitted on the floor or climbing pads.
- There are cubbies in the Bouldering Zone that you may use for your personal belongings.
- RecWell is not responsible for patrons' personal belongings.
- Lockers are available in various locations throughout the ERC and locks are available for rental
The Kilter Board app is available on a RecWell tablet in the Bouldering Zone which connects to the Kilter Board via Bluetooth. You will not be permitted to connect to the Kilterboard with your phone.
Location
The Bouldering Zone is located in the Eppley Recreation Center. To access the Bouldering Zone, enter through the ERC’s main entrance, go down on level to Level 0, and then go to the hallway near the West Gym with the Squash Courts, Racquetball Courts, and Personal Training Studio. The Bouldering Zone is at the end of the hallway.
