The Terps Esports broadcast team operates out of Studio C, located on the third floor of Knight Hall (the Philip Merrill School of Journalism), a premier state-of-the-art broadcast facility equipped with PCs, a commentating booth, and professional cameras to capture all of the action. The team operates under the direction of the Broadcast Director.
- Observers: Observers control in-game cameras during live matches, capturing key moments and ensuring viewers always have the best view of the action.
- Casters: Casters provide live play-by-play and analysis, guiding viewers through matches while building communication and on-air broadcast skills.
- Broadcast Assistants: Broadcast Assistants help run live esports productions, gaining hands-on experience in live event coordination, technical support, and media operations under the direction of the Broadcast Director.
- Social Media Specialists: Maintain output of consistent and engaging content across all Terps Esports social media platforms.
The content team operates under the direction of the Creative and Info Lead, alongside the Student Content Supervisor.
- Graphic Designer: Designers design graphics for social media, print materials, newsletters, broadcast assets, and other program needs. They also partake in weekly content team meetings.
- Video Editor: Cut and package content for social media and program promotions utilizing programs including Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Photographer: Capture imagery of players, events, etc. within Terps Esports for usage on social platforms and graphics.
- Videographer: Capture video of Terps Esports affairs for usage on social platforms, including both short and longform media.
- Team Managers: Team managers organize team gameplay, content shoot appearances, and any other scheduling for the team, collaborating with the Coach to organize scrimmages, handle match reschedules, and ensure timely arrival to broadcast studio on match days.
- Coaches: Coaches lead team practices, develop strategy, and prepare players for competition. They create team-specific policies, ensure both competitive and overall team well-being, and maintain a balanced practice schedule. This is the only role open to both UMD students and non-students.
All of our roles are only open to UMD students, except for the coach position. Coaches do not need to be UMD-affiliated, nor do they need to be a student. Coaches will receive UMD credentials to ensure no logistical issues arise.
