Ritchie Coliseum will operate under modified hours Monday, November 11 - Saturday, November 16 due to the Maryland State High School Volleyball Championships.

The hours of operations are as follows: 

Monday, November 11 - Thursday, November 14 closing at 5pm.

Friday, November 15 normal operating hours 6am - 12pm

Saturday, November 16 Closed

All Ritchie group fitness classes will be cancelled during this time, with normal class schedules resuming on Monday, November 18.

The  ERC Natatorium will be operating under modified hours Tuesday, November 12 - Sunday, November 17 for the International Swim League event. 

Tuesday, November 12 - Sunday, November 17 Sauna and Steam Room are closed. 

Wednesday, November 13 - Thursday November 14 the ERC Instructional and 50M pools will have limited availability (1- 10 lanes) throughout the day. Please call 301-226-4443 for availability.

Music, Movement, Fun!

RecWell group fitness classes offer a wide variety of group movement in cardio-dance, mind-body, mixed martial arts, group strength training and cycling formats. Classes are instructed for a mixed-level of abilities and are taught with many options for modifying movement. Join group fitness classes to learn with certified instructors, be motivated by fellow Terps, and have fun trying new movements/styles.

Know Before You Go!

What type of classes are offered? Toggle Accordion

RecWell Fitness offers a variety of mind-body, land and cycling classes. During the fall and spring semesters, there are over 100 classes per week. A minimum of 2 participants is required to hold a class. Instructor class assignments can be found on our pdf schedule but are subject to change.

Who can take group fitness classes? Toggle Accordion

Group fitness classes are included in student fees and in all paid RecWell memberships. The free Limited Access Membership for faculty/staff does not include group fitness classes. 

How can I take group fitness classes? Toggle Accordion

Before you take your first group fitness class, you'll need to complete the online waiver. You only need to complete the online waiver once. It is valid for the entirety of your RecWell membership. This will be checked upon scanning your ID at all of our studios. 

If you are under 18 years old, download and sign the paper waiver and turn it into the Member Services Desk in Eppley Recreation Center.

Where can I take group fitness classes? Toggle Accordion

RecWell fitness classes are held in the Eppley Recreation Center Fitness Studio, the Training Studio, and the Natatorium Multipurpose Studio, as well as Regents Drive Cycling and Multipurpose Studios, and Ritchie Coliseum Multipurpose Studio.

What should I wear to class? Toggle Accordion

Workout attire (breathable clothing that allows movement) and athletic shoes are required. Yoga and Barre classes do not require shoes. 

What should I bring to class? Toggle Accordion

Your UID card, a water bottle, and a smile. Due to space constraints, we do not allow bags/jackets into our studios (except Regents). Please secure these in a personal locker. Locks can be checked out for free at the ERC Equipment Issue Desk or the front desk in Ritchie Coliseum. 

When should I arrive to class? Toggle Accordion

Attendance is limited by studio space and equipment, so arrive at least 15 minutes before a class is scheduled to start. Participants are let into class on a first-come, first served basis. For participant safety, no one will be admitted 10-minutes after the start of any class (the end of the warm-up). 

Who teaches RecWell group fitness classes? Toggle Accordion

RecWell fitness program staff are nationally certified group fitness instructors and personal trainers. Many instructors also hold speciality certifications in Yoga (RYT), Zumba®, Les Mills™ formats, Barre and more.  

Do you offer private group fitness classes? Toggle Accordion

Yes, a private group fitness class can be requested by registered student organizations or UMD departments for their group. The cost of private classes is based on organization status and requested location. Private classes in RecWell facility spaces need to be requested at times that do not conflict with regularly scheduled group fitness classes.
