Your University Recreation & Wellness (RecWell) membership includes access to all RecWell facilities and programs. You can work out at the Eppley Recreation Center (ERC), Ritchie Coliseum, Reckord Armory, or the School of Public Health Building (SPH).

As a member, you will receive discounts on RecWell Community and Aquatic Programs including:

  • Learn to Swim
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Tennis Lessons
  • Special Event registration
  • Maryland Adventure Program trips
  • Adventure equipment rentals
Equipment is available for short-term checkout at the ERC, Ritchie Coliseum and the Armory. Picnic and outdoor equipment can be rented at the Outdoor Recreation Center. Late and damage fees will be assessed as appropriate.

Lockers in the ERC and Ritchie locker rooms can be rented for $35/semester or $90/year. Box lockers located in the hallways on levels 2 & 0 of the ERC can be rented for $15/semester. Free day-use lockers are also available in most RecWell facilities. Bring your own lock to secure your belongings. Day use locks are cut off at closing each day. A storage fee is charged for belongings left in day-use lockers.

Bath towels for use at the ERC may be rented at the Equipment Issue Desk for $1/day. Daily towel service can be purchased at the Member Services Desk for $25/semester or $65/year.

Guests & Guest Passes

  • UMD student members and other RecWell members may sponsor two (2) guests per day. To accommodate families, a student or RecWell member may sponsor up to three (3) minor children (under 18 years of age) and/or two (2) parent guests.
  • Dependent members under 18 years of age may not sponsor guests.
  • Guest passes can only be purchased at the ERC Member Services Desk.
  • All guests 16 years or older must show a photo ID at time of purchase and when entering the facility.
  • Guest Passes are valid for one day only ($7/day) and expire when RecWell facilities close on the date purchased.  Sponsors and guests may leave and return or go to other RecWell facilities throughout the day on which the pass is valid.
  • Individually sponsored guests are welcome in all RecWell facilities and may participate in scheduled group fitness classes (restrictions apply for guests under the age of 18 years old).
  • To accommodate early morning guests and late night guests, a Guest Pass may be purchased in advance.  The guest does not need to be present at time of purchase, but the member must present their appropriate ID card(s) (e.g. UMD ID card or RecWell membership card with photo ID) in order to purchase the pass.  The member must know the advance date at the time of purchase.
  • A sponsor must accompany their guest(s) as they enter and remain in the facility while their guest(s) is/are in the facility.  If a guest is 16 years of age or older, the sponsor and guest do not have to be in the same area at the same time throughout their visit.  If a guest is under 16 years of age, then they must be accompanied by the sponsor in the same area of the facility at all times.
  • Guest Pass fees are non-refundable and nontransferable.
  • Guests may not solicit RecWell members for guest pass sponsorship.
