RecWell Student Employee Scholarship

University Recreation & Wellness Mission Statement:  University Recreation & Wellness exists to provide varied recreational opportunities that enhance the quality of life for members of the University of Maryland community.

The University Recreation & Wellness Employee Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance in the amount of $500 for tuition and books to two (2) undergraduate student employees who uphold this mission statement in his or her work with University Recreation & Wellness at the University of Maryland.

Applications are will be accepted starting December 1, 2016. Contact Earl Cabellon, Assistant Director, Student Personnel at 301-226-4410 or ecabell@umd.edu.  Applications are due on February 27th 2017 by 11:59pm.

Who is eligible to apply?

University of Maryland, College Park students who:
• Are current employees of University Recreation & Wellness;
• Have been employed by University Recreation & Wellness for two or more semesters;
• Are pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park;
• Have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 at the time of application; and,
• Are enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more credits).

What criteria will be considered for awarding the Campus Recreation Student Employee Scholarship?
• Compelling, thoughtful, genuine, and thorough responses
• Expected graduation date
• Accuracy of a fully completed application

James Kehoe/Ethel Kessler Award

The James H. Kehoe (Men’s Intramural Sports Director, 1947‐69) and Ethel Kesler (Women’s Intramural Sports Director, 1956- 81) Service and Leadership Awards are presented by University Recreation & Wellness to the undergraduate or graduate students who have provided the highest degree of leadership and service to the recreational needs of the University community. 

The Kehoe/Kesler awards are the most prestigious given by  University Recreation & Wellness .  Nominees should immediately come to mind as an exceptional undergraduate or graduate volunteer, participant, advocate, or employee with RecWell.

Last year's winners were Nathan Lawless and Lora Doerfer.  Nominations will be accepted starting on December 1, 2016.  Contact Earl Cabellon, Assistant Director, Student Personnel at 301-226-4410 or ecabell@umd.edu.
