  • Participants must read and sign the 3x10 Release and Informed Consent Statement prior to earning any points. The Informed Consent can be downloaded here then sent via fax (301-226-4455), e-mail (rowhb@umd.edu), or campus mail (1115 Eppley Recreation Center) to the program administrator, Bre Rowh.
  • Participants may engage in physical activity anywhere, any day, anytime. A total of 30 minutes of activity must be accumulated; this can happen consecutively or in 3 ten-minute intervals, at least 3 days each week.
  • Participants must keep track of daily time spent engaging in physical activity and the type of physical activity.
  • Participants must engage in physical activity a minimum of 20 minutes/day to have their time spent being active count toward the overall challenge.
  • Failure to fill out the weekly activity log by Wednesday at 9 AM will result in a forfeit from the challenge.
  • Questions about what types of activity count as physical activity, and requests for rule exceptions, must be presented to the program administrator, Bre Rowh, at rowhb@umd.edu
  • Encourage a campus colleague or co-worker to participate. Being active with a buddy increases accountability toward personal fitness goals. All participants referring someone to participate in/complete the challenge will receive an additional entry into the grand prize drawings.
  • Join the Facebook community group and follow for daily wellness and fitness tips.
  • Think outside the box - physical activity most certainly does not always have to happen in a gym!
  • All participants successfully logging a minimum of 480 minutes (20 minutes/day, 3 days/week, 8 weeks) will receive a certificate of completion.
  • All participants logging a minimum of 720 minutes (30 minutes/day, 3 days/week, 8 weeks) will be entered into a grand prize drawing.
  • Participants must keep track of daily time spent and the type of physical activity, then submit this information into the weekly log form sent via email on Mondays at 9 AM.
  • Failure to fill out the weekly walking log by Wednesday at 9 AM will result in a forfeit from the challenge.
  • Participation in University Recreation & Wellness (RecWell) activities, including the use of facilities and equipment is completely voluntary. There are risks and hazards, minor and serious, associated with participation in fitness activities. Participants voluntarily assume all responsibility and risk of loss, damage, illness, and/or injury to person or property associated with the participation in the 3x10 Physical Activity Challenge program.
  • Participants are advised to check with a medical professional before starting any exercise program.
  • Participants will not be directly supervised. If engaging in physical activity in a RecWell facility, illness or injury should be reported to the RecWell staff member on duty in that facility.
  • Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately and drink water before, during and after exercise.
  • All participants that complete the 3x10 challenge will receive a certificate of completion.
  • Participants who encourage someone to participate/complete the challenge will receive an additional prize entry into the grand prize drawing.
  • All participants walking 720 minutes (30 minutes/day) minimum will be entered into the grand prize drawing. The grand prize will be a Fitbit Blaze.
